“Do it because it’s a lot of fun,” stated senior Emma Mearns about taking a drama class. Mearns is in Drama IV, one of the many performing classes Chancellor has to offer.
Mearns first started performing in front of audiences at a young age with the CYT program. When she came to Chancellor she then decided to take her first drama class.
“Definitely the adrenaline rush,” states Mearns confidently about her favorite part about performing. She has been in multiple shows here at Chancellor, but stated that her favorite performance so far has been Titled Voices since her class created the show and it was cool for her to know that it was something they did on their own. She is also eager to dance and perform in the upcoming show Hairspray.
Although performing on stage is a great and fun way to practice acting skills, Mearns also directs and practices scenes outside of class to help with her performing. On February 16th, Drama IV will have a devising show performance after school at 7:00pm in the Chancellor auditorium. Anyone wanting to know more about drama or what happens in one of those classes, come out to the show and talk to some of the drama classmates.
